UO Season Taster
Get a taste for the Ulster Orchestra's new season

This season, the Ulster Orchestra will perform 42 main concerts - including a world première - and 9 lunchtime concerts, featuring the work of more than 60 composers from 12 countries, with more than 20 guest conductors and almost 40 soloists. To sample this diverse range, the new Season begins with the Orchestra’s first ever Taster Concert, entitled Welcome to Our World of Music.

JoAnn Falletta makes her Season début as the UO’s new Principal Conductor presenting and conducting this special concert that features music from across the Season ahead.

Opening up the Chamber

The Irish Baroque Orchestra Chamber Soloists, led by Grammy nominee Monica Huggett, will present a selection of French Baroque repertoire with a gorgeous programme of works performed on period instruments.

The performance will include Couperin's La Pucelle, Rameau's Pièces de clavecin en Concert: No 3 & 5, Leclair's Deuxième Récréation de Musique and Marais's Sonnerie de Sainte-Geneviève du Mont de Paris.

A world of music awaits with the Ulster Orchestra

With the renowned British pianist Paul Lewis opening the Ulster Orchestra’s 46th Season on 23 September at the Belfast Waterfront, concertgoers will get a taste of Russia, Germany and Hungary as they travel through the first part of the Ulster Orchestra’s World of Music.

The amazing virtuoso violinist - and Classical Brit award winner - Jack Liebeck performs Beethoven’s magisterial Violin Concerto on 30 September with the Armagh-born pianist David Quigley performing at the Season’s first JTI Lunchtime Concert at the Ulster Hall on 5 October. Mezzo soprano Catherine Wyn-Rogers writes a Post Card from the Past on 7 October.

The bells, the bells!

Experience the magic of the world famous Bolshoi Ballet live via satellite in this stunning series of performances at the Queen's Film Theatre.

The poet Gringoire, sentenced to be hanged, is saved by beautiful Esmeralda who agrees to marry him. Archdeacon Frollo sends his henchman Quasimodo to capture her, but Esmeralda is rescued by Phoebus, the captain of the guard, who gives her his scarf as a souvenir. Later, alone, Esmeralda, starts dreaming about the handsome captain.
